Who knew we would be where we are today a year ago? In the middle of a pandemic, deprived of our usual activities and social life?
I am a mother myself and I can see how lockdown affects my children
I am an artist, but first and foremost I am a mother. I have two boys aged 11 and 8. I feel sorry for my children and all children around the world, who cannot socialise with their friends, who are not attending school, not doing sports and playing outdoors. Our kids’ life is far from normal at the moment. Everything is online: school, friends… and I think it affects their mental state and overall wellbeing. I found with my own children that letting them paint, usually calms them down, grounds them, allows them to focus on something that is not on screen! My boys enjoy drawing and painting, but they have an example of me constantly drawing and sketching, whereas the majority of kids don’t have this prompt. With this in mind, I’ve started art classes online for children. I would like to show children how to draw and paint and how to enjoy it. By drawing and painting your child will not only enjoy the process and relax, but will also develop his / her artistic taste, learn colour theory, painting techniques and find an activity that is not done on the computer.
What is Art Class Online?
Each lesson is one hour long and is held live on Google Meet. Even though I’ll be showing how to paint and draw on screen – your child will do the work using paint, paint brushes, pencil and paper. I will be guiding children all the way through the process explaining the methods and techniques. The children will see me painting live.
The groups are small from 3 to 8 children, so each child will get personalised feedback from me. The class is intended for children aged 7 and over.
The price for a lesson is £10.
What will my child need?
To participate in the Art Class your child will need watercolour paper (preferably 300gsm), pencil, eraser, watercolour paints, watercolour brushes of various sizes from big to small, tissues/rugs/kitchen towel and a jar with clean water.
My girls really enjoyed themselves! In fact they are still painting now.
